The SL-030 surface resistance meter is a portable device used to measure the surface resistance of materials. It is widely used in electrostatic protection testing in the electronics manufacturing, chemical, textile and other industries.

I.Working Principle

This instrument measures the surface resistance of anti-static products, thereby testing their anti-static capabilities. This instrument complies with ASTM standard D-257 test method. Two parallel copper electrodes on the bottom of the tester quickly measure the surface resistance of an object. Simply place the tester on the surface to be measured and press the red button. Ten LEDs (103-1012) on the instrument will illuminate one of the test values. The illuminated LED represents the surface resistance of the object being measured.

IV. Usage and Operation

Instructions for using the SL-030 surface resistance tester are as follows:
1. Preparation
Battery Installation: Ensure the instrument is equipped with a 9V alkaline battery. Replace the battery if the voltage is less than 5V.
Environmental Check: The test environment should be between 0-50°C and ≤90%RH. Avoid direct sunlight or humid environments.
2. Test Procedure
Place the instrument: Place the parallel copper electrodes on the bottom of the tester firmly on the surface to be tested, ensuring full contact between the electrodes and the surface.
Start Measurement: Press and hold the red "Test" button until the LED indicator lights up. The displayed value represents the surface resistance level (e.g., green for 10³-10⁵Ω, yellow for 10⁶-10¹¹Ω, and red for ≥10¹²Ω).
Ground Resistance Test (Optional): Connect a ground wire to the instrument's "Ground" jack, connect the alligator clip to ground, and repeat the above steps to measure the ground resistance. 3. Interpretation of Results
Conductive materials: Green light on (10³-10⁵Ω).
Antistatic materials: Yellow light on (10⁶-10¹¹Ω).
Insulating materials: Red light on (≥10¹²Ω).
