I.Product description
This instrument is a portable surface resistance tester (high-resistance meter) with a 3.1/2-digit LCD (LED) display, utilizing a highly integrated microprocessor. Its measurement range is from 10e3Ω to 10e12Ω, and it features a high-precision digital temperature and humidity sensor. The internal test voltage automatically switches between DC 10V and 100V. It displays the resistance value directly in digital format, offering high accuracy, fast response, good stability, and easy readability. This instrument is suitable for testing electrostatic dissipative products such as anti-static shoes, anti-static plastic and rubber products, and anti-static raised floors for computer rooms, as well as for measuring the insulation resistance of electronic and electrical products. The SL-030B digital insulation resistance tester (high-resistance meter) is suitable for measuring the insulation resistance of insulating materials, electrical products, and various components. It can also measure the insulation resistance of plastic wires and cables (without shielding) at different temperatures.

III. Instrument Structure and Working Principle
1. Structure
It consists of a DC high-voltage test power supply, a high-impedance DC amplifier, weights, and a display.
2. Operating Principle
According to Ohm's Law, the resistance Rx being measured is equal to the applied voltage V divided by the current I flowing through it, i.e., R=V/I. The operating principle of a typical high-resistance meter (mainly analog and some common digital high-resistance meters) is to maintain a fixed voltage V and measure the current I flowing through the sample resistor to obtain the resistance value. As shown in the equation, since the current I is inversely proportional to the resistance, not directly proportional, the displayed resistance value is non-linear. When the resistance is infinite, the current is zero, and the zero point on the scale is ∞, with very dense markings and low resolution. The entire scale is non-linear. Furthermore, since the voltage V also varies slightly when measuring different resistances, the accuracy of ordinary high-resistance meters is difficult to improve. The SL-030B digital insulation surface resistance tester measures both the voltage V across the resistance and the current I flowing through it simultaneously. After A/D conversion, the microprocessor calculates R (resistance) by dividing V by I and displays the result digitally. Even if both V and I change simultaneously, the displayed resistance value does not fluctuate as in ordinary high-resistance meters due to changes in V or I, resulting in very high accuracy. Theoretically, the error can be zero. In practice, the error can be a few thousandths or ten-thousandths. The temperature and humidity are measured using imported digital sensors, directly displayed by the microprocessor, with high accuracy, wide measurement range, and clear readings. The test voltage does not require manual switching; the microprocessor automatically selects the range and test voltage based on the measured resistance.
The instrument is safe and reliable; it will not be damaged even if the test terminals are short-circuited to 100V.

IV. Safety Precautions
1. Please read this user manual carefully before use and follow the instructions step by step.
2. Do not use any accessories not provided by the manufacturer to avoid potential hazards. 3. This instrument can measure the insulation resistance of a grounded object. During testing, the object under test should be placed on a well-insulated pad to prevent leakage current from affecting the test results.
4. When testing electrical products, the larger or exposed electrode area should be connected to the high-voltage output terminal of the instrument to minimize external interference.
5. For cable products with a metal sheath, this sheath can be used as one electrode, connected to the high-voltage output terminal, while the core wire is connected to the input terminal. For cables without a protective sheath, any connection is acceptable, but the object under test must be placed inside a metal shield, with the shield grounded.
6. When the measured insulation resistance is higher than 10×10¹⁰Ω, the object under test should be placed inside a shielded box, with the box grounded, to prevent interference.
7. When measuring volume resistance and surface resistance, measure the volume resistance first, then the surface resistance. Otherwise, the material polarization will affect the volume resistance measurement. If the material is measured repeatedly, polarization may occur, making further measurements impossible. In this case, stop testing, allow the material to rest for 8-10 hours, or clean it with anhydrous alcohol, dry it, and then measure again after cooling.
8. During testing, do not touch the high-voltage output terminal or its connections to avoid electric shock.
9. Avoid using the instrument in the following environments:
a. Avoid direct sunlight, rain, or damp conditions.
b. Keep away from fire and high temperatures to prevent overheating.
c. When moving or repairing, turn off the power and disconnect the test leads.
V. Usage and Operation
The SL-030B has a low battery voltage indicator. The "LOW BATTERY" indicator light will illuminate when the battery voltage drops below 6 volts. It is a multifunctional tester with a digital display, measuring ambient temperature, humidity, and surface resistance. Measuring ambient temperature and humidity: Press and hold the TEST button; the red LED next to "℃" will flash. The display will show the current temperature. Continue holding the TEST button. After a few seconds, the instrument will automatically switch to humidity measurement, and the red LED next to "℃" will turn off, while the red LED next to "RH%" will flash. The display will then show the current ambient humidity. After approximately 15 seconds, the measured surface resistance value will be displayed on the LCD screen, and the LED will also indicate the measured impedance.
