Anti-static clothing testing methods that purchasers need to know

Anti-static work clothes are essential human ESD protection products for electronic manufacturing companies. Large electronics factories or professional anti-static product manufacturers generally equip their own professional testing equipment, such as Faraday cylinders, roller friction machines, tensile testing machines, electrostatic potentiometers, etc., to ensure the quality stability of their products. If you strictly follow the requirements of national standards, you need to purchase these equipment. However, some user units themselves are not large in scale, and their demand for products is also very small. They may only need to order a dozen pieces, and their purchasing personnel have little expertise in ESD testing. After purchasing anti-static clothing, you want to know its What is the anti-static effect? Here is a relatively simple and easy test:

1. First, take a look at the appearance quality:
Anti-static fabrics should be free of damage, spots, dirt or other defects that affect fabric performance; the style should be simple and practical. All sewing parts should be smooth, straight, firm, with appropriate upper and lower tightness, and no jumpers, short threads, etc.

2. Point-to-point resistance and electrostatic field testing:
Anti-static equipment: Use surface resistance tester and electrostatic field tester to test. Because these two instruments are relatively expensive, if you do not meet the conditions, you can conduct sampling tests at the ESD supplier.

Anti-static clothes must be washed before testing, and then randomly pick 5 points on the fabric and use a surface resistance tester to test on the insulating table. The measurement result value should be between 10^5 and 10^11 to be a qualified product. The influence of ambient temperature and humidity must be taken into consideration. The national standard is: RH value: (20±5)C/(35±5)%. The temperature and humidity of the surrounding test environment cannot deviate too much from this value;

To measure the electrostatic voltage value, you can also test it manually without a Faraday tube. Method: Select any 5 points, hold the fabric with your hands and rub it repeatedly several times. The force and times should be even, and then use an electrostatic field tester to measure the static voltage value. The national standard for temperature and humidity stipulates the RH value: (20±5) C/( 35±5)%, the temperature and humidity of the test environment cannot deviate too much from this value.

Repeat the above test several times, record the data of each test in handwriting, and take the average value as the test result.

Although the method introduced above is not strict and accurate enough, it can at least be judged based on personal experience whether the quality of anti-static clothing is within the acceptable range.
