Electrostatic hazards in computer maintenance

However, for those professionals who repair PCs, this little bit of static electricity can cause damage to the repaired circuit boards and integrated electrical components, and semiconductor equipment is particularly sensitive to electrostatic stimulation. Static electricity is mainly generated in the following aspects: First, the floor of the computer room is carpeted, which is easy to generate static electricity. The second is that the woolen clothing worn by maintenance personnel is also a hotbed of static electricity. At the same time, wearing rubber and insulating shoes can not release static electricity. In addition, the generation of static electricity is also related to climate. For example, in winter, the climate is dry and the temperature is low, and the air can accumulate a large amount of electric charge. Therefore, the generation and release of static electricity is more obvious in winter. In summer, before static electricity is released, the temperature in the air can release most of the accumulated charge. In any case, electrostatic discharge exists to a certain extent, and at the same time, electrostatic generation is also inevitable. In addition, the static electricity accumulated inside the host due to poor grounding, in addition to the various destructive results mentioned above, will also attract a lot of dust. In this way, on the one hand, the insulation resistance of the electrical components is reduced, so that the rated service life is greatly shortened, on the other hand, the working condition of the host is deteriorated, and it is easier to induce hard injuries due to poor heat dissipation and short circuits. So how do we avoid electrostatic hazards in maintenance? First of all, when maintaining and inspecting the host, maintenance personnel can not only touch the metal plate of the chassis for a period of time to discharge the static electricity on the body, but also wash their hands in advance is also a simple and effective method. Secondly, the shell of the microcomputer equipment must be grounded, and some circuit boards should be packed in conductive foam when not in use to avoid electrostatic damage. For computer rooms with a large number of computers, the use of anti-static floor, anti-static work surface and anti-static chair are also necessary measures.
