Antistatic Floor Mat Installation Method

The key to installing antistatic floor mats lies in floor cleaning, laying conductive copper foil, applying conductive adhesive, laying the mat, and grounding. The floor must be flat and dry. The copper foil mesh connects the mat to the ground to release static electricity. Use regular adhesive or double-sided tape to fix the mat in place, ensuring it doesn't warp or slip. Use a grounding wire to effectively connect the mat to the antistatic grounding system.

I. Pre-Construction Preparation

Floor Requirements: Cement, terrazzo, or tile floors must be dry, flat, smooth, and dust-free, with minimal flatness error.

Floor Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the floor with an industrial vacuum cleaner or cleaning agent, ensuring it is free of dust, oil, and sharp protrusions.

Materials Preparation: Antistatic rubber mat, conductive copper foil (strips), conductive adhesive/special double-sided tape, antistatic grounding wire.

II. Installation Steps

Grid Laying (Copper Foil): Lay conductive copper foil on a clean surface, typically in a grid pattern (depending on the width of the mat). Connect each copper foil strip to the others and extend to the grounding lead.

Applying Conductive Adhesive: Apply conductive adhesive evenly to the surface and the back of the mat. Wait 10 minutes until the adhesive is no longer tacky before installation.

Laying the Mat: Lay the mat flat on the surface and compact it with a heavy roller or hammer to remove air bubbles and ensure tight contact between the mat, conductive copper foil, and the surface.

Seam Treatment: Ensure the mat seams are smooth. If necessary, apply conductive adhesive to the seams and press firmly.

Grounding Connection: Install a snap-on grounding wire on the mat and connect the other end to the pre-installed grounding main line, ensuring the resistance value meets requirements (typically 10E6-10E9 ohms).

III. Precautions

Isolating from External Circumstances: Avoid simultaneous construction with other finishing work to prevent debris from entering. Contamination is strictly prohibited: Clean with a dedicated antistatic wax after installation.

Regular inspection: After installation, use an impedance tester to check the surface resistance and system grounding resistance.
