Antistatic Principles

The main factors generating static electricity (object characteristics, surface condition, charging history, contact area and pressure, separation speed, etc.) should be eliminated as much as possible; the positions of contacting objects in the charging sequence should be as close as possible; the contact area and pressure between objects should be small, the temperature low, the number of contacts few, the separation speed slow, and the contact state should not change drastically. Powders, liquids, and gases generate static electricity due to friction during transportation. Therefore, measures such as limiting flow rate, reducing pipe bends, increasing diameter, and avoiding vibration should be taken.

In addition to reducing speed, pressure, friction and contact frequency, selecting appropriate materials and shapes, and increasing conductivity, the following measures can also be taken to prevent static electricity: ① Grounding. ② Overlapping (or bridging). ③ Shielding. ④ For insulators that are almost impossible to leak static electricity, use antistatic agents to increase conductivity and make static electricity easier to leak. ⑤ Use spraying, watering, or other methods to increase environmental humidity and suppress static electricity generation. ⑥ Use static eliminators to neutralize static electricity.
