If you wear antistatic shoes and antistatic gloves, do you still need to use an antistatic wrist strap?

Our company's static control program follows the ANSI/ESD S20.20-1999 American Anti-Static Association standard for research and development. I usually wear anti-static shoes and anti-static gloves, so do I still need to use an anti-static wrist strap?

Your static control plan includes the use of static shoes and anti-static gloves, but not sure if wrist straps are required.

1. The anti-static standard has been upgraded to ANSI/ESD S20.20-2014. Compared with the 1999 document, there are some changes. Please go to the association website to download relevant standards.
2. To use anti-static shoes correctly, you also need to lay an anti-static floor to effectively remove static electricity from the human body.
ANSI/ESDS20.20 Section 8.2 "For standing operations, personnel shall be grounded through a wrist strap system or floor/footwear system."
3. Operators who work while sitting must be grounded through an anti-static wrist strap. ANSI/ESDS20.20-2014 Standard "When personnel are seated at an ESD protected workstation, they shall be connected to a grounding/equipotential bonding system by means of a wrist strap system."
