Ionizing Blowers Help Inhibit Bacteria
Did you know that ionizing blowers used for static elimination have a bactericidal effect and may help combat this epidemic? Ionizing blowers eliminate static electricity by generating positive and negative ions through ionized air. Negative ions play an important role in inhibiting and killing bacteria and purifying the air.
The Importance of Ionizing Blowers
Based on the above research results, we can conclude that negative ions do have a significant effect on purifying the air and inhibiting bacteria, and they also help boost the body's immune system. So, can ionizing fans used for static elimination also function as negative ion generators? Do they have the same effect?

In principle, due to the number of discharge needles, ionization voltage, and fan action, ionizing fans typically have a much higher ionization capacity than ordinary negative ion generators. However, the ionized positive ions neutralize the negative ions formed. Tests have found that negative ion concentrations at the ionizing blower outlet typically exceed 10 million, and even exceed 100 million. Ion concentrations can reach 1 million within a range of 100-200 meters. However, ion concentrations at other distances decrease rapidly with increasing distance. Negative ions will neutralize the surrounding air. Even so, ion concentrations can reach several thousand within a few meters, which is significantly higher than in ordinary areas. Therefore, in environments using ion fans, the negative ion effect can be maintained. If the positive ions in an ion fan can be removed or suppressed, the ion fan can truly become a super-negative ion generator. However, this is only possible with DC and pulsed ion eliminators, and they cannot currently be used as static elimination devices. Don't you know this is an ESD field?
Some Precautions
1. Ion eliminators, whether ion fans, ion rods, air guns, or wind snakes, do not modify them yourself because the discharge needles have dangerously high voltages (several thousand volts to over 10,000 volts). To avoid potential disasters, be sure to consult the ion fan supplier and have the operation performed by a professional.
2. Ozone as a byproduct. Air ionization produces ozone. Although both positive and negative ions can produce ozone, positive ions are more likely to do so. Ozone has a strong bactericidal effect. Ozone sterilization is a common technique used in the pharmaceutical and food industries. Ozone also has the function of purifying the air. However, excessive ozone concentrations can damage the respiratory tract and may cause certain cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Therefore, it is listed as a pollutant in current environmental regulations and has corresponding concentration standards. Currently, the ozone concentrations produced by ionization devices on the market are still very low, and most can meet the most stringent standards. However, when using ionization equipment to purify the air, the following two points should be noted: First, maintain ventilation to avoid ozone accumulation. Second, in principle, minimize positive ionization and reduce ozone production.
