Why must anti-static table mats use a grounding wire? How is it installed?

When grounding an anti-static table mat, it needs to be connected to an anti-static grounding wire. However, some companies, for cost considerations, do not properly ground it and instead connect the equipment grounding wire to the grounding wire of a three-phase circuit! It is strongly recommended that you connect it to a dedicated anti-static grounding wire. Why? Because different grounding wires have different functions. For anti-static purposes, it is best to use an anti-static grounding wire. Equipment grounding wires, lightning protection grounding wires, lighting grounding wires, etc., all have their own equilibrium points. These equilibrium points differ from the actual anti-static grounding point, causing voltage drift or zero-point drift. In reality, there is no true grounding. Therefore, anti-static table mats must be connected to an anti-static grounding wire to ensure the quality of the anti-static product and to effectively discharge static electricity.

Table Mat Antistatic Grounding Wire Instructions: Equipped with claw-type metal clips for easy direct installation on the table mat. The other end of the grounding wire has a banana plug and alligator clips for easy insertion into a grounding socket and direct clamping of the grounding wire.

Standard Grounding Method for Antistatic Table Mat:

A. Lay the antistatic table mat on the workbench and install the antistatic grounding wire at one corner of the workbench;

B. Cut a small opening in the antistatic table mat and insert the claw portion of the grounding wire, ensuring the claws are firmly engaged with the antistatic table mat;

C. The other end of the antistatic grounding wire is clamped to the antistatic grounding busbar with an alligator clip;

D. Measure the continuity between the antistatic grounding wire, the antistatic table mat, and the earth. If the test passes, the antistatic grounding device is basically complete.
