Basic Methods of Static Electricity Prevention
The basic methods for controlling static electricity are "leakage," "neutralization," and "shielding." To allow static electricity to "leak" away promptly, a leakage path must be provided; to "neutralize" static electricity, charged particles with opposite charges must be provided; and to "shield" static electricity, a shielded environment must be provided.
Static electricity is generated in many ways, and preventing its generation is not easy. For most people, the most practical way to deal with static electricity is "leakage." In fact, the generation of static electricity is not terrible; what is terrible is its accumulation. The tiny amounts of energy generated at any time, when continuously accumulated, can have terrifying destructive power. In dry areas and during dry seasons, the release of charge is relatively difficult, so the accumulation of static electricity and its consequences will be very obvious. Even so, releasing accumulated static electricity is still a very simple matter; grounding is sufficient.

For those who occasionally need to touch electronic components, temporary grounding measures can be used. Touching grounded metal objects such as water pipes or radiators can immediately release static electricity from the body.
For those who need to contact electronic components for extended periods, anti-static wrist straps can be used. An anti-static wrist strap might be more accurately described as a "discharging" anti-static wrist strap. Its structure is very simple, consisting of three parts: the wrist strap, the wire, and the metal clip. The wrist strap is elastic and holds a metal plate in place; the elasticity ensures the metal plate remains in contact with the user's body when wearing the anti-static wrist strap. The metal clip can be attached to a suitable grounding object such as a metal window frame or radiator. The wire is typically a spring-loaded flexible wire with a resistance in the megohm range. One end of the wire connects to the wrist strap via a snap, and the other end plugs into the metal clip or another grounding point. As you can see, the function of an anti-static wrist strap is to connect the human body to the ground, allowing static electricity generated by the body to be promptly discharged. Compared to methods like touching a water pipe, anti-static wrist straps offer greater real-time performance and are much more reliable in their anti-static effect.
