If we use static wrist straps and floor mats, do we also need to use heel straps? If using heel straps or static shoes, do I still need to apply an anti-static coating to the floor?
Re: Definitely use heel straps/static shoes if workers are mobile and walking around with sensitive equipment. Because when handling static sensitive equipment, static shoes can add extra safety protection to your operation process.
If you need to transfer static-sensitive products or equipment between different production lines, the carts and personnel should be grounded through heel straps or static shoes (persons), drag chains (carts), and connected to anti-static or conductive grounded Floors are used in combination.
Using grounded floor mats or using anti-static floors around sensitive areas is a good ESD control measure as they tend to have excellent anti-static properties to limit friction while also providing a path for indirect grounding of items on the floor.
In order to fully realize the effectiveness of anti-static measures, when personnel need to move, it is strongly recommended to use a combined static grounding system of anti-static floor and anti-static shoes.
