How to Distinguish Between Various Types of Anti-Static Table Mats
Currently, the pricing and naming conventions for anti-static table mats on the market are inconsistent; so, how can one distinguish between them? Key product categories include PVC anti-static mats, rubber-plastic anti-static mats, anti-static rubber sheets, and anti-fatigue anti-static floor mats.
Anti-static floor mats

PVC anti-static mats have relatively low production costs. They derive their anti-static properties from the addition of anti-static agents during manufacturing; as these agents are chemical additives, they gradually dissipate after 3 to 6 months of use, leading to a decline in anti-static performance. In recent years, due to rising rubber prices, some manufacturers have begun blending PVC materials into their rubber mats-though the PVC content must not exceed 30%, as doing so would compromise quality and service life. PVC mats feel smooth and relatively hard to the touch. When ignited, they produce a crackling sound and emit thick black smoke accompanied by a pungent plastic odor; the resulting ash contains hard lumps. Additionally, scratching the surface with an object leaves no visible marks.
Rubber-plastic anti-static mats are available in glossy or matte finishes. They feel slightly tacky or "grippy" to the touch (characteristic of rubber) and are relatively soft; they emit a faint, pungent odor when smelled up close, though this diminishes over time. When ignited, they also produce a crackling sound, but the resulting ash is free of hard lumps. Scratching the surface with an object leaves visible marks. Anti-static rubber mats resemble rubber-plastic composites in appearance and feel soft to the touch; when squeezed firmly, they quickly return to a flat shape without deforming and emit no pungent odor. The surface layer is approximately 1mm thick (compared to 0.3mm–0.5mm for other types). When ignited, they burn silently, leaving behind ash free of hard lumps; scratching the surface with an object leaves only faint marks. Made of nitrile rubber, these mats offer an anti-static service life of up to five years-durability unmatched by other materials.
Anti-fatigue anti-static floor mats feel very soft; a cross-section reveals a solid surface layer and a base layer containing fine foam cells.
