Key Points for Material Selection in Customizing Antistatic Workwear
Antistatic workwear is made from antistatic fabric to prevent the accumulation of static electricity in clothing. The manufacturing process of antistatic fabrics mainly involves mixing antistatic fibers or antistatic synthetic fibers, made entirely or partially of conductive materials (metals or organic substances), at roughly equal intervals or evenly during the spinning process. Therefore, antistatic workwear should be made from fabrics with good conductive fibers. Currently, the main types of antistatic fabrics used are as follows:
1. Utilizing the humidity dependence of antistatic effects. Through antistatic finishing, hydrophilic polymers (surfactants) are added during spinning, making the fabric easier to absorb moisture from the air, reducing surface resistance, decreasing static electricity accumulation, and promptly releasing static electricity from the human body.


2. Utilizing the conductivity of fibers. Antistatic agents and carbon black particles are added to the fiber raw materials to make them conductive fibers. Through blending, cross-knitting, interlacing, or embedding methods, the conductivity of the fibers or fabric is improved, creating antistatic fabrics that achieve charge dissipation and prevent static electricity accumulation.
3. Blending a certain amount of metal fibers into the fabric results in blended fabrics with good stability and washability.
When ordering custom-made antistatic work clothes, the structure of the work clothes greatly affects their antistatic effect. When inspecting the ordered antistatic work clothes, pay attention to the following:
1. Buttons, zippers, hooks, and other accessories should ideally be made of non-metallic materials such as plastic or nylon. If metal accessories are used, try them on to ensure they are not exposed during wear and various activities.
2. Check the reverse side of the work clothes. Pockets, seams, and reinforcing fabrics should ideally also be made of antistatic fabric. If other materials are used, their exposed area should be less than 20% of the total exposed area inside the antistatic clothing.
3. For cotton-padded or fully lined work clothes made for cold protection or other special requirements, the cotton inner lining and full lining should be removable.
4. When examining antistatic fabrics, for the same type of conductive fibers, the higher the density of added fibers, the better the antistatic performance.
