There is a fundamental difference between cleanroom swabs and standard cotton swabs.
There are many types of swabs, including cleanroom swabs, precision cleaning swabs, medical swabs, and applicator swabs (designed for immediate application).

Cleanroom swabs differ fundamentally from ordinary cotton swabs. Ordinary swabs feature cotton heads that cannot undergo cleanroom-grade washing processes and are prone to shedding fibers or particles during use. In contrast, cleanroom swabs feature heads made of either foam or fabric; they undergo cleanroom processing and are packaged in a cleanroom environment. Consequently, high-grade cleanroom environments require consumables rated Class 100 or cleaner-standards met only by cleanroom wipes and swabs-whereas cleanroom paper and ordinary cotton swabs are suitable only for wiping products in standard environments.
Precision cleaning swabs are the optimal choice for exacting cleaning tasks; they effectively remove contaminants and maintain cleanliness in specialized production environments where cleanroom wipes cannot reach. They leave minimal chemical residue after use, are combustible and easy to dispose of, and are environmentally friendly. Most cleaning swabs are ESD-safe (conductive), helping to maintain grounding for operators and tools. They are suitable for Class 10 cleanrooms and come in various packaging options.
Medical swabs and everyday cotton swabs fall into the category of applicator swabs. These consist of a swab stick with a cotton head attached to one end. The stick is hollow and stores a liquid solution; the end holding the cotton head features a seal to contain the liquid, while the opposite end is also sealed. Unlike conventional designs, this hollow-stick structure allows the swab to carry its own solution, enabling immediate, convenient use. These swabs serve as essential hygiene products for hospitals, homes, schools, and hotels, and are also ideal for travel.
