Conductive adhesives are used in microelectronic assembly, including thin wires and printed circuits, plated substrates, metal layers of ceramic adherends, metal chassis connections, bonded wires and headers, bonding elements and planar holes through printed lines, Connect waveguide tuning and hole repair.

Conductive adhesives are used to replace spot welds where the soldering temperature exceeds the resistance to solder formation. As a substitute for tin-lead solder, conductive adhesives are mainly used in telephone and mobile communication systems; broadcasting, television, computer and other industries; automotive industry; medical equipment; and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

Another application of conductive adhesives is in the bonding of electrode pads to magnet crystals in ferroelectric devices. Conductive adhesives can replace welds and crystals where the soldering temperature tends to deposit. Bonding for battery posts is another use of conductive adhesives when soldering temperatures are unfavorable.

Conductive adhesives form joints of sufficient strength and, therefore, can be used as structural adhesives.
