ESD Product Electrostatic Protection Principles
With the increasing number of ESD products, various types of ESD products are being used in various production environments. However, there is still no systematic plan for implementing usage and maintenance standards for ESD products. The basic principles of ESD product electrostatic protection mainly include suppressing the accumulation of static charge and quickly, safely, and effectively eliminating existing static charge.
Grounding: ESD systems must have independent and reliable grounding devices. The grounding resistance should generally be less than 10 ohms, and the installation and testing methods should comply with GBJ97 requirements.

Generating Static Electricity: In many work areas, wooden floors, wool, hemp, synthetic fiber carpets, and ordinary floor coverings are prohibited. Floors made of electrostatic conductive materials should be used, such as ESD raised floors or ESD mats laid on ordinary floors, and effectively grounded. The ESD ground wire must not be connected to the power supply neutral wire and must not be shared with the lightning protection ground wire. The grounding wire for equipment and workbenches should use multi-strand plastic-coated wire with a cross-sectional area of not less than 1.25 mm², and the grounding wire color should preferably be yellow-green. The grounding main line should be connected by brazing. ESD equipment connection terminals should ensure reliable contact and easy installation and removal; various clip-on connectors, such as snap-on clips and plug sockets, are permitted. Humidity control is crucial; the relative humidity of the ESD work area should ideally not be lower than 50%. Humidifiers may be used to spray agents or water to increase ambient humidity, provided it does not cause harmful effects on the product.
Not only are area boundaries and wall fabrics potential sources of static electricity in the work area, but ESD clothing and similar products must also be used in specific situations to ensure safety and avoid unnecessary problems.
