Summary of methods to reduce static electricity generation

As we all know, static electricity cannot be completely eliminated. Is there a way to reduce static electricity?

1. First of all, determine the range of areas sensitive to static electricity; in this area, the static control procedures of GG must be followed and implemented. This includes not bringing unnecessary static electricity generating materials (such as general plastic products and polystyrene foam) into the area.

The best way to reduce the amount of static electricity is to reduce unnecessary insulating materials in the work area. (Insulating materials cannot conduct electricity. It is a high static power source and is prone to static electricity.

2. In order to prevent the generation of static electricity and electrostatic field, the work area must take appropriate protective measures, such as conductive floor, conductive wax, etc.; personnel must wear anti-static shoes with anti-static material soles and wear anti-static clothing. Gently touch the wall with your hands, especially the plastic parts of metal tools that are not allowed to be used in the electrostatic protection area. Welding machines, welding suction devices, test equipment, etc. They must be designed with special and safe antistatic design; unauthorized equipment is prohibited from being brought into the protected area.

3. Secondly, prevent loose hanging clothing accessories from contacting sensitive components: keep static sensitive components and clothing at least 15 cm away.

4. A common misunderstanding is that high humidity can solve the problem of static electricity, so there is no need to consider other methods to reduce static electricity. In fact, this is incorrect. Although high humidity can reduce the static electricity generated by the human body, it is still sufficient to damage sensitive components. The correct concept is that high humidity can suppress static electricity, while low humidity is the opposite.

5. Always pay attention to the signs of the electrostatic protection zone in the working environment. If you want to enter these areas, you must follow the company's electrostatic protection procedures, including isolation of all persons or objects that may generate static electricity outside the protected area. And check and confirm that all sensitive components passing through the electrostatic protection area are affixed with appropriate and obvious electrostatic protection labels; however, unmarked components should not be regarded as electrostatic safety objects.

6. Although it is possible to determine which equipment is sensitive to static electricity, it is a good working habit to treat all electronic components and assembly actions as sensitive to static electricity. It is much easier to maintain strict electrostatic protection work for all the components you handle and treat it as a daily work than to perform different treatments according to the nature of each component.
