When using new wires, these wires may not be originally used for ESD applications, or may come from unknown sources, please check if the wires have built-in resistors. If a wristband tester is used, the problem should be flagged. Usually, the wrist strap is connected to a workbench or other suitable grounding point by a wire. The wire is also coiled in a spiral shape, allowing the user to move freely. Coiling can prevent the lead from trailing the work piece and also make it more convenient to use.
