Classification of Clean Benches
Clean benches are classified based on airflow direction into vertical-flow and horizontal-flow models. Vertical-flow benches, which feature a top-mounted fan, tend to be noisier but direct airflow vertically; they are commonly used in pharmaceutical engineering to safeguard personnel health. Horizontal-flow benches operate more quietly and direct airflow outward, making them suitable for the electronics industry, as they pose minimal risk to operator health. They are also categorized by operational configuration into single-sided and double-sided types, and by application into standard clean benches and biological (pharmaceutical) clean benches.
Additionally, they are classified by operator capacity (single-person or two-person units), structural design (bottom-intake or top-intake airflow), and airflow delivery method (horizontal or vertical supply).
