Cleaning Guidelines for ESD Garments

ESD garments are not a one-time solution. Improper use and repeated washing may reduce their static conductivity, failing to meet safety requirements. Therefore, Tianjin Shili Technology Engineering Co., Ltd., based on fifteen years of experience in the antistatic industry, summarizes the following precautions for wearing and storing ESD garments:

(1) Different grades of antistatic fabrics and ESD garments should be selected according to the static sensitivity of different processing objects in different locations.

(2) Work clothes must not be put on or taken off in the area where static-sensitive products are handled (changing should be done in a designated changing room). All buttons on the work clothes should be fastened to avoid leaving them in a near-undressed state.

(3) ESD garments should be washed using simple methods, such as machine washing or hand washing, at a water temperature of 30-600℃. Strong mechanical and chemical washing should be avoided, and soaking time should not exceed 3 hours.

(4) When wearing ESD garments, they must be worn in conjunction with antistatic shoes as specified in GB 4385. When wearing antistatic or conductive shoes, do not wear insulating thick wool socks and insulating insoles at the same time. Antistatic shoes should be used on antistatic floors, and conductive shoes should be used on conductive floors. Furthermore, a resistance test should generally be performed every 200 hours during use.
