Printing industry to guard against static electricity

Static electricity is a relatively static positive and negative charge on the surface of an object caused by friction between different objects. Static electricity is a natural enemy for any electronic product. Large format printers are particularly susceptible to static electricity as a sophisticated mechanical device. The generation of static electricity not only affects the print quality, but also causes damage to the printer, and it also has a certain impact on human health. Therefore, preventing and eliminating static electricity is a necessary task for large format printer users.

How is static electricity generated during large format printer applications? From a macroscopic point of view, static electricity is generated by factors such as contact, friction and separation between objects, and excessive air in the work shop. In the printing environment, under the same conditions, the lower the humidity, the drier the air, the higher the electrostatic voltage, the more it affects the normal operation of the printer. Experiments show that when the relative humidity of the equipment room is 30%, the electrostatic voltage is 5000V; when the relative humidity drops to 5%, the electrostatic voltage will reach 20000V. In the case of large format printers, in addition to environmental factors, the part of the machine that is in contact with the paper is the most prone to static electricity, especially paper that has not been treated with antistatic, such as some plastic-based ones that are cheaper on the market. Pp photographic paper, because of the non-conductivity of plastic, it is more likely to generate static electricity, and it will adsorb with constant friction.

The effects of static electricity on large-format printer output, machine wear and human health are obvious. In general, static electricity easily interferes with electronic circuits, causing instantaneous changes in potential; electrostatic discharge can cause malfunctions of electronic devices, breakdown of integrated circuits and precision electronic components, leading to aging of components; at the same time, static electricity can affect the physical and mental health of operators. Health, causing psychological stress on the operator and reducing work efficiency. Moreover, severe static electricity can burn the motherboard and circuit of the device, causing damage to the printer; it also affects the print quality, absorbs ink droplets during the printing process, causing ink leakage in the printer; it also absorbs dust, causes the paper to stick, and affects printing. .

Therefore, preventing and eliminating static electricity is an important task for large format printer users. Ensuring large-format printer equipment and the security of the equipment room is a prerequisite for large-format printers to work smoothly. Large format printer users should take appropriate measures to prevent static electricity. For example, reduce the source of static electricity in the equipment of the equipment room: 1. Set a reasonable grounding and shielding system for the equipment: grounding is to prevent external electromagnetic interference and improve the reliability of equipment operation; shielding can cut off static noise and weaken electromagnetic field interference. 2. The floor of the equipment room is the main source of static electricity. The user must ensure that the resistance from the floor surface to the grounding system is between 105 and 108 Ω. The lower limit is the value of the safety resistance to protect the person from electric shock. The upper limit is to prevent the resistance value from being too large. And static electricity is generated. 3, the staff should be dressed in clothing that is not easy to generate static electricity.

In addition, in the prevention of static electricity, large-format printer manufacturers have also done a lot of work, HP as the world's most famous printer manufacturer, in the process of producing large format printers, all circuit design and assembly have taken defense Static measures. And on all the original media surface, it is coated with special anti-static paint. It can be said that HP's original media has undergone rigorous static test, and its anti-static production measures fully comply with international standards, which can ensure the safe use of the equipment. If a compatible medium is used, the quality is difficult to guarantee because there is no special coating layer on the surface. Even if some static tests have been taken and some measures have been taken, it is difficult to fully meet the requirements of HP equipment, and it is easy to generate static electricity when printing. Therefore, to prevent static electricity, large format printer users must eliminate the use of compatible media.
