How to effectively prevent static electricity in electronics factories?

1. Static Electricity Neutralization Method

The static electricity neutralization method mainly involves ionizing molecules to generate ions (usually positive and negative ions in pairs) necessary for eliminating static electricity. Ions with opposite polarity to the charged object move towards the charged object and neutralize its charge, thus eliminating static electricity. This method has been widely used in the production of films, paper, and cloth, but improper application or errors can weaken the static electricity elimination effect and even lead to accidents. Static eliminators are made based on this principle. Types of static eliminators include self-induction type, external power supply type, radiation type, ion flow type, and combined type; the appropriate static eliminator should be selected according to production needs.

Besides causing electric shocks and threatening safe production, a charged human body can also cause quality accidents during the production of precision instruments or electronic components. Therefore, it is essential to address the hazards of a charged human body to industrial production. Measures to eliminate static electricity on the human body include:

① Grounding the human body. In locations where the human body is grounded, a metal grounding rod should be installed. Workers should touch the grounding rod frequently to eliminate static electricity from their bodies. In seated work areas, workers can wear grounded wrist straps. Dongguan Jiachuang Company specializes in providing anti-static products. Exposed metal grounding objects should be present at the entrance and outside of anti-static areas. In areas with static electricity hazards, workers should wear anti-static clothing, anti-static shoes, and anti-static gloves, and should not wear synthetic fiber clothing. The purpose of wearing anti-static shoes is to ground the human body.

② Conductivity of the work surface. The work surface in particularly hazardous areas should be conductive or have conductive elements. The leakage resistance of the work surface should be low enough to prevent the accumulation of static electricity on the human body, but also low enough to prevent electric shock injury. Therefore, the resistance value should be appropriate, generally 3 x 10^6 ohms ≤ R ≤ 10^6 ohms.

③ Safe operation. a. Avoid activities that could cause static electricity to be generated during work; b. Use prescribed personal protective equipment appropriately; c. Work in an orderly manner and avoid impulsive actions; d. Do not carry metal objects unrelated to work in anti-static areas; e. Do not use mops or rags made of synthetic fibers to wipe items or floors.

Safety managers in chemical enterprises should pay attention to the hazards of static electricity in chemical production. Eliminate the hazards of static electricity through reasonable safety measures to ensure safe production and prevent accidents.
