Anti-static clothing test method


Anti-static overalls are essential human body ESD protective equipment for electronic manufacturing enterprises. Large electronic factories or professional anti-static product manufacturers generally equip their own professional testing equipment, such as Faraday cylinders, roller friction machines, tensile testing machines, and electrostatic potentiometers, to ensure product quality and stability. If these equipments need to be purchased strictly in accordance with the requirements of the national standard. However, some user units are not large in scale, and the demand for products is also very small. They may only need to order more than a dozen pieces. Their purchasers have little expertise in ESD testing. They want to know it after purchasing anti-static clothing. What is the anti-static effect? Here is a relatively simple and easy test:

 1. First look at the appearance quality:

The anti-static fabric should be free of damage, spots, dirt or other defects that affect the performance of the fabric; the style should be simple and practical. The sewing parts are smooth, straight, firm, suitable for up and down tightness, without jumpers, short lines, etc.

2. Point-to-point resistance and electrostatic field test:

Instrument: Use surface resistance tester and electrostatic field tester to test. Because these two instruments are relatively expensive and do not have the conditions, they can be sampled and tested at the ESD supplier.


The anti-static clothing must be washed before testing, and then take 5 points on the fabric, and use a surface resistance tester to test on the insulating table. The measurement result value should be between 10 ^ 5 and 10 ^ 11 for qualified products. To consider the influence of environmental temperature and humidity, the national standard: RH value: (20 ± 5) C / (35 ± 5)%, the temperature and humidity of the surrounding test environment should not deviate too much from this value;


To measure the static voltage value, there is no Faraday tube, you can also manually test. Method: Choose 5 points, hold the fabric with your hands and rub it repeatedly for several times, the force and frequency should be even, and then use the electrostatic field tester to measure the static voltage value, the temperature and humidity national standard RH value: (20 ± 5) C / ( 35 ± 5)%, the temperature and humidity of the test environment should not deviate too much from this value.


Repeat the test several times, record the data of each test by hand, and take the average value as the test result.


Although the method described above is not strict and accurate, but based on personal experience, it can at least judge whether the quality of anti-static clothing is within the qualified range.
