Antistatic tools must be used correctly.

When using antistatic wrist straps, they must not be disconnected, otherwise the grounding function will be lost. The main problem with various wrist straps is open circuits, sometimes temporarily, sometimes for extended periods, causing a loss of grounding. Some people use wrist strap detectors to measure their continuity, while others use monitoring instruments to measure open circuits and increased resistance. A loosely fastened wrist strap increases the contact resistance between the skin and the strap. Some wrist straps have resistance inherent to the strap itself; when the strap touches the ground, its resistance decreases significantly, potentially causing an electric shock.

Antistatic shoes should be worn with antistatic socks/insoles, and work should be done on an antistatic floor to conduct static electricity from the body to the ground. Any part with excessive resistance or a break in the connection will cause the body to carry harmful static electricity. Therefore, in important departments, a human body resistance tester should be available to continuously monitor the overall resistance of the shoes/socks/insoles and the body to ensure adequate static electricity leakage. The wristband should be connected to the ground using a dedicated grounding wire with a socket. It should not be clipped to a metal object on a table or edge, as these metal objects may have a high resistance to ground. The resistance of the wristband should be checked frequently.
