Establish an anti-static work area (EPA)
EPA is the anti-static work area. Nowadays, many companies use anti-static products, mistakenly thinking that their work area is an anti-static work area (EPA), but in this way, a work area with only anti-static products cannot be called an EPA (anti-static work area). There are still very strict requirements for the establishment of EPA.
Basic requirements for anti-static work area (EPA):
1. Inhibit the generation and accumulation of electrostatic charges.
2. Quickly, safely and effectively eliminate the static charge that has been generated.
1. Anti-static work area
Use a ground made of static dissipative materials, such as an anti-static raised floor, an anti-static epoxy artesian floor, or laying an electrostatic mat on an ordinary ground, and ground it effectively. Use anti-static work area signs (yellow and black or yellow and white striped tape) around the EPA area to determine the boundary.
2. Anti-static grounding
The anti-static grounding system must have an independent and reliable grounding device. The grounding resistance is generally less than 10Ω, and the cross-sectional area of the main grounding line should be no less than 100 square millimeters; the cross-sectional area of the branch trunk line should be no less than 6 square millimeters; the grounding wires of equipment and workbenches should be used For multi-strand plastic-binding trunk wires with a cross-sectional area of not less than 1.25 square millimeters, the color of the grounding wire should be yellow-green. The connection method of the grounding trunk line should be brazed, and the connection terminals of each branch should be reliable in contact and easy to disassemble and assemble. Various clip-type connectors, such as alligator clips, plug sockets, etc., are allowed.
3. Epoxy condition control
1. Temperature
The anti-static work area (EPA) should be equipped with a temperature adjustment device, and the temperature of the room should be maintained within the range of normal temperature (custom).
2. Humidity
A humidity control device should be installed in the anti-static work area (EPA) to keep its indoor relative humidity at >30%RH (upper limit customizable).
3. Cleanliness (monitoring if necessary)
An anti-static work area (EPA) processing site with a clean environment is required, and the air cleanliness level of the workshop shall be implemented in accordance with the relevant process design documents.

Anti-static safety workbench
The anti-static safety workbench is a basic part of the EPA area. It consists of a workbench, an anti-static seat, an anti-static table mat, an anti-static wrist strap, sockets, connectors, and grounding wires. The workbench is recommended to use a steel workbench, lay static table mats, and install at least two wrist strap connectors (sockets), one for operators and the other for technicians, inspectors or other personnel, wrist strap connectors (Socket) must be effectively connected to the earth wire. It is also equipped with anti-static seats, and metal mopping chains must be installed.
Anti-static turnover container
All storage and turnover containers in the EPA work area should have electrostatic protection, and metal and ordinary plastic containers are not allowed. Including anti-static turnover carts, anti-static turnover racks, anti-static trolleys, anti-static component boxes, anti-static trays, anti-static chip boxes, and anti-static hollow board boxes. When necessary, the turnover box for storing components should be grounded.
Anti-static operating equipment
Tools with anti-static function should be used in the EPA work area, such as anti-static tweezers, anti-static soldering iron, etc. The necessary tools and utensils without anti-static function should be placed on the anti-static table mat and placed in the scope of the static eliminator Inside.
5. Electrostatic protection of operators
All personnel in the EPA area should wear anti-static clothing, anti-static hats, anti-static shoes, anti-static gloves and finger cots. Those who enter the EPA area temporarily due to work needs are allowed to wear ordinary shoes, but conductive shoes should be used at the same time. Or electrostatic hamstrings.
In fact, the most important point is that we must understand the electrostatic withstand voltage value of the products we produce. Depending on the electrostatic withstand voltage value of the product, we will also have differences in the selection of anti-static products. Electrostatic work area) to establish the required products, but also high-quality and low-cost products, which requires you to have a professional understanding of anti-static.
