How to Measure the Quality of Anti-static Ultra-Clean Fabrics

① Measure Warp and Weft Density: Use a commercially available warp and weft density scope (over 10 yuan each) to measure the warp and weft densities of the fabric and compare them.
② Measure Resistance: Use a commercially available surface resistance tester (ranging from 1,000 to 4,000 yuan/unit) to measure the resistance of the fabric in both the warp and weft directions and compare them. The principles for comparison are: a) Choose the fabric with the lowest resistance; b) If the resistances are the same, choose the one with the most stable resistance; c) Be aware of whether the fabric has been treated with an antistatic agent during finishing (this applies to conductive silk with conductive fibers added only in the warp direction, commonly known as striped fabric). Use a surface resistance tester to measure the resistance in both the warp and weft directions. If the resistances are the same, an antistatic agent has been added, and the measured resistance does not represent the actual level. ③ Microscopic Structure: Use a commercially available high-power magnifying glass (portable, 40-80x magnification, 150-200 yuan/piece) to examine the fabric's surface quality. Compare the size of the gaps between the fibers (related to dust filtration efficiency), check for any surface debris (related to dust generation), and verify that the fibers are neatly arranged and uniformly tight. (If the tightness is inconsistent, loose fibers will easily fray during wear and washing, causing dust generation during subsequent wear.)

④ Inspect Conductive Fibers: Conductive fiber is a key ingredient in anti-static, ultra-clean fabrics. Inspecting conductive fibers involves verifying whether the fibers are incorporated according to specifications and the type of fibers used. To do this, carefully cut the fabric along the edges of the black conductive fibers with scissors and separate them. Use a magnifying glass to observe whether there are one or more thicker fibers. Then, use a surface resistivity meter to measure the resistance of the separated fibers. By removing several fibers, you can determine whether each black fiber in the fabric contains conductive fibers. (Conductive silk uses carbon organic conductive fiber, black or gray, generally around 20 denier, ranging from 1F to 6F. To achieve the required strength during weaving, a strand of ordinary black or white polyester fiber is added.)

⑤ Comparison of fabric process parameters: Suppliers are required to provide basic fabric parameters, such as yarn fineness (D/F), warp and weft density, weave, finished width, dye shrinkage, and the type of conductive fiber used.

By analyzing the characteristics of anti-static cleanroom fabrics, we can identify their key features. Based on the cleanliness requirements of the actual application environment, using simple tools, we can select the appropriate anti-static cleanroom fabric from a wide range of fabrics. This ensures product quality while controlling the cost of cleanroom apparel, creating positive economic benefits for the company.
