The impact of static electricity on computers
The impact of static electricity on computers is mainly reflected in the impact of static electricity on semiconductor devices. It can be said that the sensitivity of semiconductor devices to static electricity is the sensitivity of computers to static electricity. With the development of the computer industry, semiconductor devices, the main components of electronic computers, have also developed rapidly. Due to the high density and high gain of semiconductor devices, the high speed, high density, large capacity and miniaturization of electronic computers have been promoted. At the same time, it also leads to the increasingly sensitive reaction of semiconductor devices to static electricity. There are two types of static electricity on electronic computers. One is component damage, and the other is to cause computer malfunction or calculation errors.
Component damage is mainly used only in large-scale integrated circuits of computers, and it also has a certain impact on bipolar circuits. For early MOS circuits, when the electrostatic charged body (usually with high electrostatic voltage) is primary to the MOS circuit leg, the electrostatic charged body discharges to it, causing the MOS circuit to break down.

In recent years, due to the high density, high speed and low price of MOS circuits, it has been widely used and developed. At present, most MOS circuits have termination protection circuits to improve the anti-static protection ability. Nevertheless, when using it again, especially when repairing and replacing it, you should also pay attention to the effect of static electricity. Excessive static voltage will still cause the MOS circuit to break down. Malfunction or operation error caused by static electricity is caused by the discharge of static electricity to the computer when it touches the computer, which may cause the computer logic element to input wrong signals and cause the computer to error. In severe cases, the calculation program sent to the computer will be disordered. In addition, static electricity also has a significant impact on the computer's external devices. Display devices with cathode ray tubes will cause image disorder and blur when they are disturbed by static electricity. Static electricity will also cause malfunctions of modems, network cards, faxes, etc., and printer wiring is not smooth.
