The Importance of Anti-static Wristbands in Sensitive Work Environments
In electronics manufacturing, semiconductor production, and medical device maintenance, static electricity can cause serious damage to equipment. ESD (electrostatic discharge) wristbands ensure that personnel handling these devices are protected from ESD-related harm, preventing equipment malfunctions or damage caused by static electricity from the human body. ESD (electrostatic discharge) wristbands should generally be tested daily to ensure proper grounding. It is recommended to perform tests daily at a specific test station, or on a workbench using a continuous monitor.
ANSI/ESD S1.1-2021: In Annex A.3 entitled "System Test Frequency," the standard specifies: "The wristband system should be tested daily to ensure normal resistance."
