Correct use of electrostatic field tester

 First of all, the measurement result of the non-contact tester is greatly affected by the distance and the geometric size of the tested sample. The change of the distance between the probe and the tested sample will cause a large test error. It is necessary to follow the distance measurement specified in the instrument manual. The probe is placed in a fixed spatial position perpendicular to the surface of the charged object under test. In order to avoid electrostatic discharge between the charged object and the probe shell during the test, when the object under test has a large amount of charged charge, the probe should first gradually approach the object under test from a far position during the test;

Keep away from the grounding body. The measured body is a thin sheet, and the back side is close to the grounding body, which may cause ESD discharge.

The test sample is not a flat plate, and when there is a large curvature, the test result will be quite different from the actual voltage value it carries.

To minimize the influence of external electric field on the test signal, the common method is to add a shielding sleeve to the probe and ground it.

Finally, the influence of the instrument itself on the measurement accuracy should be considered, and the instrument should be calibrated and calibrated regularly according to the "Electrostatic Voltmeter Calibration Specification". Usually the test accuracy should be able to test the electrostatic voltage of plus or minus 10Ω.
