The role and maintenance of electrostatic tester

The electrostatic tester is a non-contact portable electrostatic tester. The dust, fibers and perspiration on the surface of the Shanghai Electrostatic Tester will cause many tiny tips that allow the charge to flow directly from the tip through the corona discharge and into the air.

The measurable range is +/-20KV (working distance is 1 inch, 25mm). It is equipped with 2 LED lights to ensure the electrostatic performance of 25mm fiber, yarn, fabric, carpet and decorative fabric from the measured object. To determine the electrostatic properties of other sheets, sheet materials such as paper, rubber, plastic, composite sheets and the like. The electrostatic tester main unit consists of a corona discharge device, a probe and a detection system. Using a given high-voltage electric field, the sample to be tested is periodically discharged, and the sample is induced to generate static electricity, thereby performing electrostatic energy, static voltage half-life, and electrostatic residual amount detection to determine the electrostatic properties of the sample to be tested.

It is generally believed that a relative humidity of not more than 70% is a condition for the electrostatic tester to work normally. Ventilation often does not guarantee this, which requires drying the surface of the instrument. Regardless of the heat source used for drying, the surface temperature of the Shanghai static tester should not exceed 50 °C (hand touch feels hot but not hot). The method of ventilating while baking can be adopted to make the instrument dry as soon as possible and to shorten the drying time as much as possible. Therefore, the surface of the instrument should be carefully cleaned during use and should not be touched directly by hand. In the experiment, if it is necessary to connect two instruments with conductors, it is best to use an electroscope connecting rod or a discharge fork. If the non-use wire is not available, the wire should also be hung with an insulated wire such as nylon wire.

Polymer insulation materials are prone to aging, with the most obvious effects of ultraviolet and infrared radiation. The aging of hard rubber products firstly forms a green-brown film on the surface, at which time the insulation against static electricity has failed. Gently wipe the film with a fine sandpaper dampened with alcohol and reuse. The aging of plastics is brittle and cannot be repaired. Therefore, the Shanghai Electrostatic Tester should be kept away from direct sunlight and away from heat.
