Have you ever encountered such static electricity problems

Today, a field engineer from an electronics factory called and asked about such an interesting problem of static electricity. Their current production line started to produce new products, LCD panels, three months ago. Everything went smoothly in the first two months, and nothing happened. What's the problem? In the third month, it was suddenly discovered that the IC chip on the LCD panel had a very high damage rate, which suddenly increased from the original one-thousandth to the current 2%.

According to our experience, this must be a problem in a certain link of production. After analyzing the damage of the IC, we searched for materials, processes, manufacturing, storage, and transportation. Finally, it was concluded that the culprit of the damage was static electricity.

The production line in this factory is equipped with ion fans, and employees wear anti-static overalls, anti-static shoes, and anti-static wristbands. The factory stated that it would test the anti-static wrist straps every day, and regularly test the anti-static work clothes and anti-static shoes, but did not test the ion fan, and did not know the static voltage withstand value of the IC. At that time, the reason for the analysis was probably that the residual voltage of the ion fan failure was too high, which caused the IC to be damaged by static electricity.

After the later test, the previous analysis was confirmed, and the problem was solved by replacing the failed ion fan. Therefore, the detection of the residual voltage of the ion fan is still very important, and it must not be ignored!
