Quality Inspection of Antistatic esd Products

Electrostatic measurement is crucial for studying static electricity and preventing its hazards. To understand the laws governing electrostatic charging, the occurrence of electrostatic charging during production, to determine the dangers of electrostatics in production processes, and to verify the effectiveness of electrostatic safety measures, electrostatic measurement is essential. Although some electrostatic parameters seem theoretically calculable, the complexity of practical conditions often makes calculations insufficient to obtain satisfactory results, necessitating measurement. Besides directly addressing safety issues in production, electrostatic parameters need to be measured in electrostatic research and in production processes utilizing electrostatics.

Electrostatic measurement mainly includes two aspects: the measurement of electrostatic parameters and the measurement of electrical characteristic parameters of materials or objects. Electrostatic parameters include parameters representing charged characteristics such as electrostatic voltage, electric field strength, charge quantity, weak current, spark discharge energy, electrostatic discharge current waveform, and electromagnetic field radiated by electrostatic discharge. Electrical characteristic parameters of materials or objects include resistance or resistivity, dielectric constant, and capacitance. In many cases, for safety purposes, it is necessary to measure process parameters and environmental conditions such as flow rate or operating speed, pressure, mixture concentration, temperature, and humidity. Different measurement methods should be used depending on the level of hazard at the site. In highly hazardous locations requiring advance warning signals or automatic control, or when long-term monitoring of electrostatic changes is necessary, a static electrostatic measuring instrument of the EST102 vibration capacitance type should be used with a fixed monitoring method. In less hazardous locations with stable processes, a periodic measurement method using an EST101 electrostatic voltmeter type can be used, depending on the circumstances. Furthermore, necessary electrostatic measurements should be performed when changing processes or in other situations requiring assessment of electrostatic hazards.
