Selection Criteria for Antistatic ESD Flooring

There are many types of antistatic flooring, and sometimes the chosen product is unsuitable for the computer room environment. Choosing the right antistatic flooring is a significant issue. Is there a simple selection guide?

1. First, accurately determine the total area (or number of pieces) of antistatic flooring needed for the computer room construction, as well as the quantity of various accessories, leaving a margin to avoid waste or shortages.

2. Fully understand the types and quality of antistatic flooring produced by the manufacturer, as well as various technical performance indicators. The technical performance of antistatic flooring mainly refers to its mechanical and electrical properties.

Mechanical properties mainly consider its load-bearing capacity and abrasion resistance. After installing the entire antistatic flooring piece on the overlapping beams and leveling it, its load-bearing capacity should reach a uniform load greater than 1000 kg/m², and the concentrated load at any point on the antistatic flooring should be greater than 300 kg. When bearing a 300 kg load at a loading point with a diameter of 6 cm, the deflection should be less than 2 mm, with no permanent deformation. Adjustable supports should be able to withstand a vertical load of over 1000 kg, and the surface should have a certain degree of abrasion resistance.

Electrical properties mainly include system resistance, electrostatic voltage, and surface resistance. The system resistance should be 10⁵Ω-10⁸Ω. At a temperature of 21±1.5℃ and a relative humidity of 30%, the electrostatic voltage of the antistatic floor should be below 2500V, and the surface resistance should be 10⁵Ω-10⁸Ω.

3. The load capacity of the antistatic floor should be determined based on the weight of the heaviest piece of equipment in the computer room. This prevents permanent deformation or damage to the floor caused by excessively heavy equipment.

4. The antistatic floor should be minimally affected by external environmental conditions. That is, it should not exhibit significant expansion or contraction due to excessively high or low ambient temperatures.

5. The surface of the antistatic floor should be non-reflective, non-slip, corrosion-resistant, dust-free, non-dust-attracting, and easy to clean.
