Although static electricity brings a lot of security risks to data center operation, data center failures caused by static electricity are often random failures, which are not repetitive, and the cause of the failure is generally difficult to find out, so it brings to the operation and maintenance of the data center. It is extremely difficult.
Generally, the faults caused by static electricity have the following three characteristics:
First, the season of static electricity failure is mainly the winter and spring dry period, that is to say, static electricity changes with humidity;
Second, static electricity is related to the floor used in the data center, the furniture used, and the work clothes of the staff;
Third, when static electricity causes malfunctions in data center equipment, it often occurs when the human body or other insulators come in contact with electronic equipment.
According to the characteristics of static faults, it can be seen that there are several major sources of static electricity in the data center. Including: the floor of the data center computer room; the facilities used in the data center; the clothing of the maintenance personnel of the data center. The clothing of the maintenance personnel is the main source of static electricity, because in most cases static electricity is generated when the maintenance personnel touch the data center equipment.
