What is the principle behind static electricity generation in polyester?

When two poorly conductive insulators rub against each other, they acquire different types of charges. Synthetic fibers like acrylic and polyester become negatively charged, while wool and silk easily become positively charged. Due to their poor conductivity, the generated charges cannot transfer quickly and accumulate, resulting in static electricity.
