Precautions for Using Anti-static Wristbands

In workshops, you often see workers wearing a plastic ring on their wrist with a strap extending to the ground; this is an anti-static wristband. It effectively releases static electricity through the ground. However, workers often find anti-static wristbands uncomfortable and don't wear them properly-either not fastening them tightly or not clamping them correctly-leading to various problems. This is ineffective at discharging static electricity. Below are some precautions for using anti-static wristbands.

The wristband must not be disconnected during operation, otherwise the grounding function will be lost. The main problem with various wristbands is open circuits, sometimes temporarily, sometimes for extended periods, causing a loss of grounding. Some people use wristband detectors to measure continuity, while others use monitoring instruments to measure open circuits and increased resistance. A loosely fastened wristband increases the contact resistance between the skin and the wristband. The resistance of some wristbands is inherent to the strap itself; when the strap touches the ground, its resistance decreases significantly, potentially causing an electric shock.

Antistatic protection is a long-term, systematic project. Therefore, simply adding hardware decorations is far from enough. There must also be professional antistatic standards that everyone must follow. For example, how to wear an antistatic wrist strap properly and how often to test antistatic products must be included.
