The Protective Function of Antistatic Shielding Bags
Generally, antistatic packaging bags themselves do not easily generate static electricity. However, when electrostatic discharge (ESD) occurs outside the packaging bag, due to their poor shielding performance against external ESD, electronic components inside the bag can be affected by external ESD, and may even be damaged. For components highly sensitive to static electricity, the surface resistance of ordinary antistatic packaging bags is insufficient to shield against external ESD. For such components, shielding bags should typically be selected.
Antistatic shielding bags not only possess all the antistatic properties of antistatic packaging bags, but also shield against ESD from external personnel and equipment, as well as external electromagnetic radiation. They are composed of multiple layers of highly conductive and anti-static materials and are usually opaque.
